Grounding Meditation


For the Grounding Meditation, be sure to sit in a quiet setting, away from all distractions.  It can be any time of day.  When the kids are gone to school or bed, the husband or boyfriend gone to work or out with friends.  Pick a time when you are all alone and can really focus on the moment.  Set the atmosphere to a more relaxed and calm setting by lighting candles and keeping the light dim with either soft music playing or silence.  Then begin…


Rub the palms of your hands together, and scuff the soles of your feet on the floor.

Then sit comfortably with your spine straight and your hands in your lap.

Close your eyes and begin breathing deeply. Inhale for a count of five, hold your breath for a count of fifteen, and exhale for a count of ten.  Do this 3 times making sure to keep your mind focused on your breathing and in the present moment.

Clear your mind of any negative thoughts, fears or angers.

Visualize your spine becoming a strong, thick root, painless growing from the bottom of your body into the earth itself. Picture the main root branching off into many more roots, spreading out, growing thicker and stronger as they go deeper into the earth itself. Imagine the roots anchoring themselves–and yourself–to the mightiest, densest boulders that exist within the earth.

Now imagine thick, liquid earth rising up from your feet to your waist, surrounding your lower body like a mud bath, only thicker and stronger. Slow your breathing and feel your body growing heavier and stronger, connected to the earth and soaking up its strength.

Imagine a pure white light above you, bathing you with higher energy. Visualize the light concentrating on the top of your head, and picture your Crown Chakra opening to receive it.

Bring the light down into the center of your body, and feel it join and merge with the power of the earth around you.

Hold the visualization for as long as you feel comfortable; take some more concentrated deep breaths.

Then open your eyes.
