Don't Forget About Those LIPS

Our lips are responsible for smiling, eating, talking, kissing and more.  It’s only fair that we provide it with the best care possible by using gentle scrubs and moisturizing lip balms to keep them soft and kissable xo

Did you know that the skin on our lips is far thinner than the skin on the rest of our bodies??  The top layer of the skin, known as the epidermis, has a protective layer called the stratum corneum, which in the lips, is much thinner and more transparent.  That’s why the lips have a pink shading because we can see through the thin layer beneath which thousands of capillaries and blood vessels run.

Another amazing fact about lips is that the skin on the lips have no oil glands.  These glands are located under each hair follicle and are responsible for producing oils in the skin which helps keep in moisturized and protected from environmental forces.

Because the lips lack the self-moisturizing oil glands or extra protection from a thick epidermal covering, it is very important to take extra care for the lips.

The common ailments that are experienced on the lips are:

  • Dry, flaky lips
  • Chapped, cracked and bleeding lips
  • Cold sores
  • Hives

The best way to care for some of these ailments and to maintain soft lips is to gently exfoliate the lips either with a toothbrush after brushing or a gentle sugar scrub both done in circular motions while the lips are wet.  Rinse, then use a moisturizing lip balm or lip conditioner to soften those lips. Throughout the day whenever your lips feel dry, re-apply the lip balm. Try to make sure that your lips never feel dry for too long. Maintain this daily.

After every facial, receive a complimentary lip conditioner to go home with.
